Tuition

When a child is having difficulty in reading, writing or maths, this can be very frustrating for them and can have an impact upon both their home and school life. No two children with dyslexia will learn in exactly the same way, so my approach is to design lessons to meet the needs of each child.

For many children with dyslexia, school can be a tiring experience. I therefore try to keep my lessons engaging and dynamic. Often, the children I tutor don't even know they have been 'working' for an hour! Games and the child's interests form a big part of the lessons, as well as structured reading, spelling and writing activities.

Explore the gallery below or have a look at the 'Teaching Ideas' page to see some of the activities used in lessons.

What's involved?

Usually, I work with children for one hour per week, but this can be changed to suit your needs.

Sessions cost £45 per hour, which includes the preparation time, the hour of teaching and travel time.

Sessions can be held at your home or at a mutually convenient place such as a library. Some schools may even agree to allow me to take your child out of a lesson, which is particularly good for children who are very tired after school!

How do I book?

You can phone me on 07720854551 or email thedyslexicpenguin@gmail.com. If you are emailing, please fill in this form and attach to your email so I can better understand your needs.

The first session is a free meet and greet, which usually takes around 40 minutes. Then, if you'd like to go ahead we can organise a regular slot.
